Beak,

God bless you, you remain the bluntest of instruments, and therefore you are the greatest ally any cultural Marxist could want.  You attack my good friends Mike and Stewie, both moral men who have served this nation well.  While you rail about the faults of our generation, I, in turn, wonder who taught your generation manners.  Nobody invited you to Stewie's party, so leave quietly and we'll pretend you were never here.  See, we're polite that way.

Oh, but before you go, please tell me what's wrong with the study of the following bodies of work.  Before you answer, remember that the Naval Academy also has a History Department that teaches the lessons of great leaders like Preble, Mahan, and Nimitz.

Also, contrary to your earlier assertion (Essay Four, I think), the chapel is still standing and many midshipmen go there (voluntarily, what a concept, huh?) for spiritual enlightenment.  And we have a bunch of sports and clubs where mids learn life's lessons firsthand.  Alas, I digress.

Tell me what's wrong with exposing midshipmen to these works as part of their undergraduate matriculation: Kant, "Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, "Mill, "Utilitarianism," "On Liberty," The Constitution of the United States, Aquinas, "Summa Theologica," Melville, "Billy Budd, "Epictetus, "The Enchiridion, "Stockdale, "Courage Under Fire, "Aristotle, "The Moral Virtues."

Now, I've seen you take these philosophers and their bodies of work out of context, so answer me only referencing the points raised in the aforementioned writings.  To put a finer point on it, I know Mill wrote about euthanasia, but that's not dealt with in the readings of his we teach in NE 203.  I need to know which writings conflict with the concepts of morality and ethics future naval leaders should consider. In your reply I also request you refrain from promoting your vanity press offerings, your web site, or using the lexicon of your previous diatribes.  Just answer the question, you know, naval aviator to naval aviator.Allow me to preempt your intel effort by offering the fact I was ranked 560-ish in my Naval Academy class of 1982, and my USGA handicap index is 8.6.  I was born in 1959, so I don't know what label that gives me, but I've never owned a BMW, and I think Huey Lewis sucks.  And please don't call me "[Anonymous]" in your reply because that'll cue my real friends that you don't know me very well.

Don't go away mad; just go away,

Anonymous
